Do you have un-owned free roaming or feral (wild) cats on your property or in your neighborhood? SNIP & TIP is offering a non-lethal solution to controlling the population of these cats.

SNIP & TIP, an initiative of New Leash on Life, was established in 2004. It is a trap/neuter/return (TNR) program that will help control the population of feral and free roaming cats. This program is available to anyone in the middle Tennessee area who is caring for a colony of un-owned, feral or free roaming cats.

Our aim is for Snip & Tip to be a resource for cat colony caretakers who want to prevent cat overpopulation by identifying colonies, sterilizing at an effective rate, and vaccinating and maintaining the colony.  Using available research and data we know that sterilizing a colony of cats is more effective and less expensive than removing and killing, and we want to provide resources to our community so they can maintain healthy, stable colonies.

We expect the following results:

Healthier stabilized colonies
Reduced spread of disease, less injuries and suffering
Fewer calls to animal control and New Leash on Life regarding this issue
Reduced smell and noise resulting in breeding behavior
Less “killing” of cats

This program is devoted to helping stray and feral cats that would not be sterilized if not for SNIP & TIP. This program will not sterilize owned pets or strays being adopted by the finder. All cats will receive a left ear tip to identify them as a spayed or neutered and vaccinated cat.

This proactive program will stabilize the population, improve the health of the population and eventually reduce the number of these cats in our community.
